Retirement isn’t as easy as you think!
Retirement is one of life’s biggest transitions that can bring freedom, flexibility and often an entirely new state of mind. But be aware, it can initially be an abrupt social, emotional and intellectual change as well.
In this month’s forum, SHIFT’s own Bob Koehler will present a discussion on retirement transition. He’ll walk us through some of the mythology that surrounds retirement, highlight what elements in our life can have an immediate and positive influence on our quality of life and offer up practical and actionable tools that one can incorporate into their lives to begin the transition process.
We’ll shatter the myths and take a fresh look at the realities that surround retirement. How to find purpose, how to stay socially connected while reinventing yourself, and what you can become in this new, magical and invigorating phase of your life. You will also receive handouts and a list of resources that can help you transition into a life filled with joy and purpose.
What path will you choose when you retire: the myth or the magic?
Bob Kohler is a life-long entrepreneur, and has started 5 small companies during his professional ‘first’ career. Always living an active and engaged lifestyle, he thought that retirement would come naturally and easily to him. What he did find is that it the transition into retirement was a good deal more complicated than he expected. Bob became consumed with the need to understand this major transition in time and spent 2 ½ years studying the topic, reading endless books, attending conferences and interviewing endless numbers of those preparing for and those already on the retirement journey. As a result of this passion, Bob is dedicated to helping others to prepare and give them the tools to begin building a new life filled with passion and purpose in their post career life.
