When you hang out with your adult children or millennials, you can quickly see how we have
become a smartphone nation. Smartphone are everywhere and mobile skills have become an
prominent part of staying engaged, staying connected and always learning.
Many people use their Apple iPhones to make calls, send text messages, check emails, take a
few photos and occasionally search online. However, our iPhones are amazing devices and
capable of much more. The iPhone offers many useful features that are largely hidden from
everyday users. We call these functions Nuggets and every new release of software adds more
In this Shift Workshop you will explore ten hidden functions that are available on your iPhones.
Exploring these Nuggets will not only introduce you to new useful functions but will also help
you better appreciate power in your hand and build your confidence in handling your devices.
The Nuggets that you will explore will include using your iPhone as a magnifier, expanding your
use of Siri for reminders, using your iPhone to scan and store documents and many more useful
What to expect in this session.
Bring your iPhones, your curiosity and your iPhone questions to the Shift Workshop. The session
will be fast-paced, hands-on and engaging. If there are steps you miss during class, you will
have access to lessons on the Senior Tech Club site so that you can recreate the actions that
we explore. If you already know one of the Nuggets we explore, we’ll ask you to help your
neighbor. That’s a great way to build your confidence in handling your device.
Finally, we will also reserve time at the end of the session for Q&A and sharing. This is your
chance to ask a nagging question or learn how others are using their iPhones.
This session is best for Phone users who have experience making calls, sending texts and
emails and looking up online information. This is not an iPhone beginner session.
Whether you consider yourself proficient iPhone owner or you’re just just interested in diving into the power of your handheld mobile device, Don will provide you with tips and tricks (Nuggets) so you can make the most of your iPhone purchase!
