December SHiFT Forum – Bravely Be: Wandering Toward Revelation
Tracy Sides spent two decades working in public health before branching out on her self-described “soul-infused path.” She left the standard institutional public health setting in favor of a more holistic vision of public health. She founded Bravely Be, a social enterprise serving the community. Tracy was recently awarded the Saint Paul Foundation’s Forever Saint Paul Challenge for her idea to transform a vacant East Side warehouse into a thriving food center.
At the SHIFT forum on December 2, 2013 Tracy shared her story of transition, of serving her community, and her vision for the Urban Oasis idea. She also provided practical strategies for developing the types of inner resources we need to honor and nurture transitions in our lives.

Tracy Sides has always been a connector, an adventurer, and a student of life. As a child she explored her own edges through athletics, reading, and trips to her grandfather’s farm. As she became an adult, her explorations of body and mind expanded to bushwhacking in the rainforests of Costa Rica; bicycling across the US; attending silent meditation and yoga retreats; bungee jumping in New Zealand; and competing in such endurance events as the Minnesota Border-to-Border Triathlon, American Birkebeiner ski race; and the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike “Race Across the Sky.”
Commitments to personal, community, and environmental sustainability are at the core of her work. She believes that to build healthy landscapes around us, we must explore and cultivate healthy landscapes within us.
