SHIFT Special Session: The Impact of 2019 Medicare Changes
SHIFT is hosting and inviting our members and the community to be part of this important overview and information session.
More than 300,000 Minnesotans will be changing Medicare health plans next year, state officials said, when a federal law eliminates certain health insurance options in the Twin Cities and across much of the state. For more than a year, insurers have been sizing up the coming shift with Medicare Cost plans, a specific type of coverage that’s distinct from Medicare Advantage plans that are more common outside Minnesota. However most Medicare Cost Plan enrollees are not aware of the upcoming changes for 2019 nor do they understand fully what these changes will mean to them.
Kelli Jo Greiner from the Consumer Choices Team of the Minnesota Board on Aging will make a presentation on the upcoming alterations to Medicare Programs and the changes in cost structures that will have a significant impact on our SHIFT members or loved ones that are currently retired, or considering retirement in 2019. Kelli will explain what the Medicare Cost Plan changes are, why they are changing and what the impact will be for Minnesotan’s. This presentation is for consumers to help them prepare for these upcoming changes in Medicare and is similar to the in-depth trainings she is doing with the MN Dept of Commerce for agents, brokers and the Senior LinkAge Line staff.
Please join us for this important special session so we can ensure that our SHIFT members, and the community at large, are fully educated and prepared for making informed choices prior to when the Medicare enrollment period begins.
